Antoine d’Abbadie’s astronomical château above Hendaye, designed with Viollet-le-Duc between 1864 and 1879, stands in a park that was listed together with the house in 2012.

Château Abbadia is a château at Hendaye, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The recorded building campaign dates from the 19th century. Its architecture is recorded as Gothic Revival. It is protected as a monument historique at the higher of the two levels (classé). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The record describes the château at length: a central block with three wings, an interior decorated with crocodiles, gargoyles and elephant heads, a library at the heart of the house and a meridian room with its 1880 telescope. The immediate park is part of the protection: the 2012 listing covers the unclassified parts of the château, its near park with the former garages and the house called Aragorry. What the record does not give is a description of the planting itself.
