The walled park of Château d’Aurec
One of the largest fortresses of the region, raised mainly in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries above the Loire, Aurec keeps a park within its enclosure wall that was listed with the château in 1996.

Château d'Aurec is a château at Aurec-sur-Loire, Haute-Loire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The recorded building campaigns date from the 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th centuries. It is protected as a monument historique at the second level (inscrit). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The record concentrates on the house: a primitive castle probably built around 1100 by the Counts of Forez, the present building of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, much altered in the eighteenth and nineteenth, with panelling, stucco and painted decoration of the eighteenth century inside.
