At Ouilly-le-Vicomte in the Pays d’Auge, the château of Boutemont, begun in 1538, received in the twentieth century a garden recreated in the classical taste.

Château de Boutemont is a château at Ouilly-le-Vicomte, Calvados, in the Normandie region of France. The recorded building campaigns date from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is protected as a monument historique at the second level (inscrit). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.
Editorial reading
A fortified house of the late fourteenth or early fifteenth century preceded the present château, built from 1538. The entrance pavilion and north wing date from the early seventeenth century, the west wing and cour d’honneur from its end; a timber-framed gallery was raised on the west wing around 1770. The record states plainly that in the twentieth century a garden was recreated in the classical taste and outbuildings were built. The château was listed in 1927; the cour d’honneur, the dry moats with their retaining walls and the fixed bridge followed in 1995.
