The park, icehouse and windmill of Château de Creuse
Dated 1706 on its pediment, Creuse in the Somme keeps an eighteenth-century icehouse and, at the east of the park, a late-nineteenth-century wind engine that pumped water to the château, the kitchen garden and the farm.

Château de Creuse is a château at Creuse, Somme, in the Hauts-de-France region of France. The recorded building campaigns date from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is protected as a monument historique at the second level (inscrit). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The château preserved its plan, volume and original decoration, with eighteenth-century panelling and ironwork. The record notes an icehouse of the eighteenth century and, to the east of the park, a wind engine built at the end of the nineteenth century to supply water to the house, the potager and the farm — that farm being, the record adds, an illustration of the agricultural modernisation begun in the Somme at the end of the Ancien Régime. The 1994 listing covers the façades, the ironwork of the main stair, the icehouse, the wind engine and the enclosure walls.
Recommendation
A park where the useful things survive: the icehouse that kept the summer and the windmill that watered the kitchen garden.
