The landscape park of La Guerche on the Creuse
Restored from 1829 by Raoul de Croy after its partial destruction in 1794, the château of La Guerche on the Touraine bank of the Creuse was given a new approach from the north through a landscape park planted around 1830–1831.

Château de La Guerche is a château at La Guerche, Indre-et-Loire, in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The recorded building campaigns date from the 15th, 19th and 20th centuries. It is protected as a monument historique at the second level (inscrit). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The record follows the site from the castrum attested in 1095 to the Villequier château built between about 1450 and 1500, of which two wings survive around a square court some forty metres across: the south wing with its gatehouse facing the bridge, and the west wing founding its thirty metres of elevation in the bed of the river. A third wing to the north, perhaps a portico, gave onto the château’s gardens. After the damage of 1794, restoration began in 1829; the entrance was moved to the north, and visitors arrived through a landscape park planted around 1830–1831. The façades and roofs were listed in 1944.
