The English park and water of La Roche-Faton
Rebuilt from 1544 after being burnt in 1417, La Roche-Faton at Lhoumois keeps of its moats a single sheet of water before the eastern esplanade, and a landscape park in the English manner spreading north and east.

Château de la Roche-Faton is a château at Lhoumois, Deux-Sèvres, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The recorded building campaigns date from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. It is protected as a monument historique at the second level (inscrit). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The record describes three ranges flanked by round towers around a closed court: the fifteenth- and sixteenth-century house and the fortified fifteenth-century entrance pavilion with its postern to the east and south, and two seventeenth-century wings of outbuildings on the line of the old fortifications, of which two towers remain. The whole was surrounded by moats, of which only a pièce d’eau survives in front of the east esplanade. A landscape park à l’anglaise extends to the north and east. Façades and roofs were listed in 1973, the outbuildings in 1993.
