Château de Losse is a château at Thonac, Dordogne, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The recorded building campaigns date from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is protected as a monument historique at the higher of the two levels (classé). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The record sets out three spaces. At the centre, the gardens intra muros: cour d’honneur, the court of the outbuildings with its lower garden, the tower and the wall-walk, the two courts divided by a hornbeam gallery between which water runs from a round basin to a fountain set against the charmille. To the south, the terrace garden, on the footprint of the seventeenth-century garden: three spaces laid out in the second half of the twentieth century in place of the old kitchen garden — an enfilade of green rooms, a quincunx of walnut trees and the pavilion garden. To the north, the irregular landscape park. The hornbeam allée and the eighteenth-century allée d’honneur belong to the historic layers.
Recommendation
Stand in the hornbeam gallery and listen: the water between basin and fountain is the oldest sound in the garden.
