The park of Fayolle
Rebuilt in 1766 on Chauvin’s plans, reusing the medieval walls of a fortress the English once garrisoned, Fayolle at Tocane-Saint-Apre was listed in April 2026 with a large part of its park — though the record notes that the park originally planned to frame the house seems never to have been carried out.

Domaine de Fayolle is a château at Tocane-Saint-Apre, Dordogne, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The recorded building campaign dates from the 18th century. It is protected as a monument historique at the second level (inscrit). Details are drawn from the Base Mérimée of the French Ministry of Culture.

The record traces Fayolle from the cluzeau beneath the château and a feudal motte, through the English garrison of the Hundred Years’ War and the sack of 1485, to the marquisate of 1725 and the rebuilding of 1766 that kept the medieval walls and replaced the corner towers with square pavilions. It adds that a park plan had been intended to frame the château but does not seem to have been realised. The listing of 3 April 2026 nevertheless covers the château in full, the two barns and the dovecote, and some twenty parcels of the park of the domain — the meadows and tree lines photographed here.
