Redactionele duiding
The Château Stéphen-Liégeard at Brochon in the Côte-d’Or was built for the writer between 1895 and 1902 and later became part of a lycée. The official inventory, IA21000875, records that Bühler designed the park and fixed the château’s position; Eugène Bühler and Emmanuel Olivier are credited as landscape architects. It describes a terrace, artificial grotto and fountain. The kitchen garden and greenhouse disappeared with construction of the school building. The inventory’s account of a rose garden being reconstituted dates to its 2005 study and does not establish its present condition. The linked protection record PA00112162 identifies the same château at Brochon.
Aanbeveling
The landscape’s role in siting the house makes this a useful study of architecture and garden composition. The grounds are associated with a working school. Public access and the present condition of individual garden features are not confirmed; contact the school or the relevant event organiser before planning a visit.
